Granite Mountain Loop is located in the McDowell Mountains near Scottsdale. The hike is suitable for most abilities since there is little elevation gain and good footing. Among the interesting features are large granite boulders, desert scenery, panoramic views and spring wildflowers. Dogs are allowed on the trail provided they are leashed. The trail can even be hiked in summer as long as hikers remember to get an early start and avoid mid day heat. Be sure to bring plenty of water.
 
There is no fee to hike in this area. Parking is located at 31402 N. 136th Street in Scottsdale. There are no restrooms and no water available so plan accordingly.
