Iron King Rail Trail

Details:

Ride or walk the historic Iron King Trail in Prescott Valley. This historic line began in 1898 as a part of the Prescott & Eastern Railroad serving the mining industry in the area. Rusted train cars dot the trail and the scenery is quite striking. Since the trail follows the route of the railroad, grades are somewhat flat with little elevation gain along the way. Among the features is Glassford Hill, an extinct volcano named for the chief signal officer at Fort Whipple in the 1880s.

The Iron King Trail is four miles in length but riders can enjoy a longer ride by combining it with the Peavine Trail beginning at the Point of Rocks junction. The combined trails provide visitors with a fabulous diversity of scenery along the way.

There is no fee to access the trail, which is located in the town of Prescott Valley.
