Peralta Trail

The Peralta Trail is one of the most popular in the Superstition Mountain wilderness area. This 6.2 mile trek is moderately challenging with loose footing in some spots and rugged elevation gains along the way. The trail ranges from 2,400 to 3,760 feet in elevation and features a wide variety of desert vegetation as well as seasonal water sources. There are ipressive views of the Superstition Mountains along the way, including the famed pinnacle of Weavers Needle.
The trail begins at the mouth of Peralta Canyon and climbs quickly and steadily. At 2.2 miles the trail comes to Fremont Saddle with spectacular views. From here, the trail continues downhill into Boulder Canyon. There are a number of backcountry campsites nearby. At the Peralta-Dutchman Trail junction, hikers can elect to return the way they came or make a loop via the Dutchman Trail to Terrapin and Bluff Springs trails. This provides lots more variety but is a more difficult option with plenty of ups and downs along the way.

There is no fee to hike the Peralta Trail. Go well prepared with plenty of water and food. There are no services and you are in a wilderess area.
