Waldron Trail

  • Which way to go?
  • Day hike on the Waldron Trail
  • On the Waldron Trail at Grand Canyon

  • This is a great introduction to hiking into Grand Canyon and can be completed as a day hike.
  • The initial steep descent is followed by a pleasant hike with views and the possibility to see wildlife.
  • For a nice detour, plan to add a short hike to Dripping Springs.

Waldron Trail

The Waldron Trail offers hikers a day hike in the Hermits Rest area of Grand Canyon with interesting history, geology and vegetation. The beginning of the hike is along the Hermit Trail with a short but steep descent.  At approximately 1.2 miles, take the junction to Waldron Trail. At this point, the hiking is much easier and one can enjoy the views and sites along the way. The remainder of the hike is 2 miles, making it a great way to enjoy the Grand Canyon in a short period of time. A nice detour can be had with a visit to Dripping Springs. Just take the spur trail from Waldron out and back to this little oasis.

Pack a lunch and plenty of water for the trip so you can enjoy the day. Return the way you came and remember that the steep descent at the beginning of the hike becomes a tiring uphill at the end. Pace yourself and stop for plenty of photos along the way.
