Wyatt Earp Days

Details:

Each year, Tombstone celebrates the life and times of the West's most famous lawman, Wyatt Earp. The town was founded in 1879 and was the largest producer of silver in Arizona. By the mid 1880s, Tombstone had four churches, a school, two banks, three newspapers and an ice cream parlor as well as 110 saloons and 14 gambling halls. Add in a few brothels and dance halls and it's not hard to figure out why the town had quite a reputation. Of course, it's most famous event was the shoot out at OK Corral where the Earp brothers and Doc Holliday faced down outlaws Tom and Frank McLaury and Billy Clanton.

The annual event includes gunfights in the street, entertainment, a chili cook-off and an 1880s fashion show. Be sure to stop by Boot Hill and read the tombstones of those who "died with their boots on." Among the graves are those of the McLaurys and Billy Clanton. Wyatt Earp Days is scheduled for May 26-29, 2017 and is free to the public.
