Details:
The Uncle Jim Trail is a 5-mile loop trail out to Uncle Jim Point for spectacular views. Hikers will marvel at Roaring Springs Canyon and Bright Angel Canyon spread out below their feet. Across on the horizon are Arizona\'s highest mountains, the San Francisco Peaks. The hiking is relatively easy with little elevation change and the reward is fewer crowds and more solitude. The trailhead is two miles north of Grand Canyon North Rim Lodge on the entrance road. It is the same starting point as the Ken Patrick Trail and the two follow the same path for a short ditance before branching off. At the junction, take the Uncle Jim Trail out to fabulous overlooks. Along the way, the path wanders through tall pine and fir forests for a pleasant experience. There is no fee or permit for this hike. Just pay the Grand Canyon National Park admission fees. Be sure to carry water and snacks as there are no facilities along the trail.
